It’s always rad shooting with Blake and when I heard that “The Dunk To End All Dunks” commercial was going to be featuring Marvin The Martian…surely it was going to be all the more special. When I was a kid and got my first computer, the best part was getting my Marvin The Martian mousepad to accompany it. Something about the details you never forget that make all your accomplishments in life a bit more fun. BG did a stellar job over the course of two shoot days at muscle beach, taking photos with fans and meeting all the requests of director Jon Favreau. Several million views later, Jordan Brand continues to keep their rich advertising history alive with another classic spot.

Maestro Knows – Episode 9 (Jason Markk) http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/maestro-knows-episode-9-jason-markk/ http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/maestro-knows-episode-9-jason-markk/#comments Thu, 25 Jun 2015 20:02:37 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18770 In 2008, I met a guy with a bottle of sneaker cleaning solution named Jason. A very nice, humble guy who I would see around Los Angeles year after year and would always stop to catch up. Over the last few years I’ve seen his idea for a specific product grow into a full fledged company and what can be properly described as a movement. Keeping shoes clean! It’s a big deal to many people and to Jason Markk, it’s a necessity. I am very happy for the strides they are making today because their individual influence can only now try and be mirrored from this point forward. In this episode, we start in Harbor City before making our way downtown to make a heavy sneaker cleansing effort at the JM shop.

JUST LIKE YOU IMAGINED http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/just-like-you-imagined/ http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/just-like-you-imagined/#comments Tue, 16 Jun 2015 05:25:29 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18755 How many times have you thought of where you’d like to be in life? Where you could be, should be…but aren’t. If you ask yourself why you haven’t accomplished something you desire, more times than not, you have the answer. It’s not something that needs to be explained to you. Once the decision is made to achieve, the rest is just a matter of time and dedication.

MAKING AN #INFINITYPIECE WITH NICK DIAMOND http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/making-an-infinitypiece-with-nick-diamond/ http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/making-an-infinitypiece-with-nick-diamond/#comments Mon, 15 Jun 2015 18:38:09 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18745 I’m not sure where to begin my very simple, yet complex story. I started skateboarding in 1997. Nick Tershay started Diamond Supply Co in 1998. At that time the brand made skateboard hardware and several t-shirts. I’ll always remember that Diamond had (still has) one of the largest, greatest teams in skateboarding…plus simple and coveted brand presence. Fast forward to 2006, Diamond opened their first store on Fairfax ave in Los Angeles. My friend Tone worked at the shop and during that time I remember him saying something about how Diamond would soon grow to surpass the relevance of all the current streetwear brands at that time. Honestly, I took his opinion with a grain of salt because I wouldn’t have fathomed that a skateboard company who’s roots were established in making nuts and bolts would ever be globally excepted as a clothing brand. Well, several years later it happened and is still happening today. Nick’s vision for Diamond has led him to be 16 years in the market creating an example for skateboarders and aspiring entrepreneurs, that will never be duplicated.

In Jan 2013, I went down to Nick’s office and gave him a product that I created under my brand becomb. The Infinity Piece was to serve as a reminder that when you are dedicated to what you love, time then becomes irrelevant. The collaboration happened immediately when he had an idea in mind for the design of his own version. I couldn’t feel more right about becomb’s first official brand collab, because skateboarding is what brought it here. Skateboarding led me to video, which led me to LA, which led me to starting a company that made me realize time is most wisely spent on the things that you love.

Stay tuned.

TYLER FERNENGEL REIMAGINES DETROIT FOR REDBULL http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/tyler-fernengel-reimagines-detroit-for-redbull/ http://levimaestro.com/2015/06/tyler-fernengel-reimagines-detroit-for-redbull/#comments Sun, 14 Jun 2015 20:27:18 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18736 Every now and then, a video lands online that makes me drop whatever I’m doing and forces my imagination into a wonderful place. I have a great admiration for much of the content Redbull has produced, I think they do an awesome job at constantly making radical content in the very essence of the word. The genius of this video speaks for itself. Bravo.

COASTAL CREATIVITY BY INCASE http://levimaestro.com/2015/02/coastal-creativity-by-incase/ http://levimaestro.com/2015/02/coastal-creativity-by-incase/#comments Mon, 23 Feb 2015 23:48:46 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18656 Recently my friends from Incase came by the shop to hang. We hit the coastline and spoke about the necessities of life, staying focused and the importance of being motivated. Nice little piece shot by my long time friend Zack Mctee, the last sequence is the kind of epic that only So Cal golden hour can provide.

CONS KA3 LAUNCH WITH KENNY ANDERSON http://levimaestro.com/2015/01/cons-ka3-launch-with-kenny-anderson/ http://levimaestro.com/2015/01/cons-ka3-launch-with-kenny-anderson/#comments Tue, 13 Jan 2015 16:07:05 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18643 A few days ago in New York City, I got to attend a skate along with my old friend Kenny Anderson. We celebrated the launch of Kenny’s third pro model for Converse, crazy how the time flies! Aside from the obvious updates like a perforated tongue and Nike Lunarlon insole, Kenny explained that this shoe is his longest lasting and most out of the box skateable model to date. So happy to see this guy still ruling!

Maestro Knows – Episode 8 (Jamie Lidell) http://levimaestro.com/2014/11/maestro-knows-episode-8-jamie-lidell/ http://levimaestro.com/2014/11/maestro-knows-episode-8-jamie-lidell/#comments Thu, 20 Nov 2014 19:24:52 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18634 You know how they say that some things in life are just meant to be? For me, this video below feels like the definition of that statement. If I were to make a list today of the top 10 people I would like to create an episode with, Jamie Lidell’s name is on that list. I have been a fan since first hearing his song “Multiply” in 2006 and have been collecting all the music he’s made ever since. To me, there are a few characteristics that make a person who plays music an “artist”. First, the form of creativity and how you flip it. Second, you’re natural talent and how many ways you can use it. Vocal quality, a creative pen, original performance, I suppose the list could grow very long. I was a fan of Jamie before this video because of his music and ability to put on an awesome show. Since this trip to Nashville, I am a fan of his attitude and work ethic, the ability to realize that there is always more to learn and room to improve. Life can be as radical as you decide to make it, please enjoy one of my favorite episodes of Maestro Knows to date.

Maestro Knows – Episode 7 (Mauro Porcini) http://levimaestro.com/2014/11/maestro-knows-episode-7-mauro-porcini/ http://levimaestro.com/2014/11/maestro-knows-episode-7-mauro-porcini/#comments Tue, 11 Nov 2014 23:44:57 +0000 Levi Maestro http://levimaestro.com/?p=18617 One thing that I’ve come to realize in life, is that when you make a valiant effort to create something that you believe in, you earn a sense a accomplishment that is only provided by doing just that. As you begin to experience positive reactions from time well spent, the window of opportunity opens wider and the world gets smaller. I have always been impressed by the type of people and places I come into contact with because I use a video camera for a living. This video below only happened because of the Infinity Piece, a product I didn’t necessarily intend to create but realized was meant for me. Fortunately some other people feel that the IP is meant for them as well and Mauro Porcini is one of them. There is a great deal of information that can be googled about how Mauro has earned/created such a highly respected position in the world of design. However, in this video the common thread is love. Take a look at New York City from Mauro’s perspective and you’ll see why the native Italian, chooses it for home base.
