We’ve been having a bit of our June Gloom skies here in Los Angeles as of late but it cleared up so nice the other day, I had to get out a skate a bit. Ryan managed a cool flick of this Switch Ollie as I was trying to make it with out any cars in the background passing by, the meter got the best of us still. Truthfully I’ve always wanted to be goofy footed, the majority of tricks just look better to me right foot forward!

Went to set the other day with Sarah McColgan to grab some BTS shots of Kerry Washington for the cover of the new emmy Mag. Everybody was real easy going possibly thx to the Prince Pandora station Ms. Washington had selected. Can’t wait to shoot the next one!

I’m much more focused on building this thing product by product instead of making a line of products that have minimal to no identity. Brisk Bodega Launch NYC

Last week, I flew out to New York to be a part of a VIP celebration for the launch of Brisk Iced Tea’s new digital channel www.briskbodega.com. This would mark my first ever trip New York City, so I couldn’t wait to get out there & soak in as much as I could given the 48 hours I’d have.

Upon arrival, the fine people at Brisk had a full schedule set up for all of those involved & it included such things as a tour of the VICE offices, a visit to Brooklyn’s Side Street Deli. Here they were filming their first commercial for the Brisk Bodega series and and throwing a launch party where all in attendance got a sneak preview of the site before it went live.

I wanted to give a big thanks to every awesome individual I worked with & met on this trip. I had a great time in the city & can’t wait to go back! No thanks to the person who hit me with their car while I was crossing the road in Brooklyn. What goes around, comes around.

BBC/Ice Cream has been one of my favorite brands since it’s inception 10 years ago. Watching Pharrell introduce pieces through videos and shoots, to finding out where it would first be available. Then establishing a skate team, being acquired by a larger brand, dropping price points while still maintaining the identity, it’s been really rad to watch. A brand that I admire for sure and one I feel plays the line like no other.

These plastic joints have become my favorite but sometimes the plastic bends too much and I feel like I’m riding a long board, which is not fun. Usually I like my setups real simple but this one has a lot of cool understated details.

Once a week I go and see my guy Art or Adrian over at Pacific Barbershop for a cut. These guys opened up a little over a year ago and have been holding me down ever since. I was real tired of driving too far for a good cut and paying too much at the same time, this spot makes life that much easier.

My homie Drew Byrd came by the other day and showed me a new project he’s working on called 40′s & Shorties. He showed me their first line of socks and I think it’s an awesome first execution, excited for them and what they have next. I feel like all successful/relevant brands not only find/create their niche but also have a gimmick. The word gimmick often gets a bad wrap but to me, it’s great to have because it makes it so easy to understand what you’re all about.
