Into The Fire

For some reason it seems like it’s almost impossible to always be perfectly prepared, no matter how prepared I think I am. Sometimes I just have to throw myself into the fire, or be thrown into the fire in order to get things moving or accomplished sometimes…

I do the social media thing, I’ve owned and operated my own businesses, and have worked for for many other businesses and brands in different capacities as well…So interacting with others, taking on responsibility, and committing to people and projects is something that I’m indeed familiar with, and enjoy doing. If that’s the case though, why is it still so difficult to get things going sometimes?

For me, right now I’m in an interesting position. I’m at a “turning point” so to speak. I’m in between projects, starting some new ones, and have the opportunity to either continue the path that I’ve been on, or to move forward and literally reinvent myself. I’m not a fan of comfort in the workplace, because to me that often means that you are in idle mode and not raising your own bar. With that said, I’m beyond grateful for my past because it has made me who I am, but I’m excited about the unknown…The future…

Jumping into the unknown isn’t always a comfortable process to put ourselves through due to the immense amount of garbage, trial and error, and outside criticism that sometimes gets placed in front of us. What I DO know is that I’m not “Vanilla”. I was not meant to just “blend in”. I’m hear to break down some walls, and make some things happen. I don’t always know what those things are, but I’ll never know unless I throw myself into the fire to find out.

Dropping in…

*This is a frame grab of video in between takes on a music video we shot a few months ago. (Low res.) This was my first music video project, and we shot it in 1 day w/a nice blend of the Canon 7D and Red One. We’re currently in post production on it now, and learning as we go…

I feel it. Getting the ball moving in any direction is sometimes the hardest part but once its going down hill, let the creative juices flow my man. Ups on the 7d and good luck man!!

Whatever you end up doing, I am sure it will be very cool and successful. You’re the man.

  3. It’s always hard to get things going creatively… sometimes, like you said, you just have to jump and get things started… I can relate because i’m fresh out of college and I’m struggling to get my career started. I think it’s time I just start doing instead of looking…

I’ve heard similar phrases at least 3 times this week. I will take it as a sign. Been idle waaaaaaaaay too long. It is an interesting place to be to have ideas but don’t know how to execute them. I guess that is where the learning process and great mentors come in.
